Wrigley Lofts at 245 Carlaw Avenue
Industrial, dynamic, and open-concept: Wrigley Lofts is a true New York-style live-work-play conversion.
The Price Point
1 Bedroom + Den:
Converted from a century-old Wrigley gum factory, Wrigley Lofts is a true industrial open-concept loft building in the heart of Leslieville. While the conversion was completed in 1999, with an extension added in 2007, the building maintains a number of its heritage features, like its marble entryway and old-timey freight elevator.
The building has few amenities, which keeps the maintenance fees low despite the massive square footage.
You won’t find anything more industrial than these hard lofts. All units have factory-height ceilings (fourteen feet!), hulking cement columns, massive warehouse windows, and lofted work or sleeping areas.
After twenty years, each unit has a number of unique upgrades from their previous owners; expect custom garage doors, modern kitchens with ample storage, and updated appliances.
None of the units have dedicated balcony space, but there’s a large shared terrace that’s ultra-private. And, to be honest, the massive square footage that Wrigley provides makes your lack of outdoor space worth it.
Once hailed as “the next Williamsburg”, Leslieville has a few identities that directly reflect its residents. To some, it’s the perfect place to raise a family, with a number of schools and good-sized houses at accessible prices. For others, it’s a live-work-play hub, with amazing shops, restaurants, and cafes, as well as lofts.
An important note is that Wrigley is located in what the locals call “gym row”. Between Queen and Gerrard, fourteen different independent gyms and athletic studios vie for residents’ attention. You can find an aerial studio, a Spartan box gym, a women-only fitness centre, a rock climbing gym, and more.
The area has three other loft buildings on the street, bringing a number of artists and filmmakers to the neighbourhood. Ultimately, the neighbourhood has a great mix of lifestyle and amenities, as well as demographics.
